What it costs
Published, not haggled. Tutors set their own rate inside these bands, and you see the exact price before you request anything. Browsing and being matched are free.
One lesson is about an hour. The research on one-to-one tutoring is consistent: two or three short lessons a week beat one long one, by a wide margin. We price per lesson so you can do exactly that.
A lesson at your home may add a transport supplement, shown on the tutor's profile before you book. No subscription, no joining fee — you pay per lesson.
How we vet a tutor
This is the part that takes us time and takes the risk off you. Anyone can call themselves a tutor in a WhatsApp group. Nobody there has done this.
- National ID, checked in person
We match the ID to the person in front of us and record it.
- Qualification documents
Degree, PGDE or Grade V — the originals, not a claim on a CV.
- A letter from their employer
From a current or former school, naming someone we can telephone.
- A reference call we make ourselves
We ask the one question that matters: would you put your own child with this person, alone?
- An observed trial lesson
They teach, we watch, and we score it against the same rubric for every candidate.
- Their mobile money name is checked
The payout number must be registered in their own name — a simple check that catches what an ID alone does not.
Your money is protected
You pay only after a tutor has accepted your time. We hold that money and release it to the tutor after the lesson has actually happened.
If a lesson does not happen, we make it right with you directly. That is the whole reason to pay through us rather than hand cash to someone you have just met.
Never pay a tutor directly. If anyone asks you to, tell us.
Safety, taken seriously
For lessons at your home, tutors agree to work in a room where the family can see and hear them, and to keep contact on our channels.
Sit in on the first lesson with any new tutor. It is normal, and no good tutor minds.
Any concern at all — call us. We suspend first and ask questions after.
Questions parents ask
How quickly can we get a tutor?
It depends on the subject and your area. We would rather take a few days and send someone properly checked than send anyone tomorrow. Leave your number and we will tell you honestly how long yours will take.
What if my child and the tutor do not get on?
Tell us after the first lesson and we will match you with someone else. There is no contract and no subscription — you are never locked in.
Do you cover my area?
We are starting in the Naalya, Kira, Namugongo and Kyaliwajjala corridor for lessons at home, and anywhere in Uganda for online lessons. Outside that, leave your number — where families ask, we recruit.
What do we need for an online lesson?
A phone or laptop with a camera, and enough data for a video call. There is nothing to install for the practice work — it runs in the browser.
Can we pay per lesson?
Yes. Every lesson is paid on its own, by mobile money, after we confirm it. There is nothing to cancel.
What happens to my child's information?
We ask for your child's first name only, and your phone number. We do not sell data, and we do not give your number to a tutor until a booking is confirmed.
Are you a teacher?
Paying students, fees collected before the lesson so you are never chasing anyone, and you set your own rate. We find the families; you teach.
